# Sizewise Money Stack > How tall is a million dollars? Banknotes as a stack, by weight and on pallets. Turns an amount of money into banknotes: how many notes, how high the stack, what it weighs, the area laid flat and how many EUR-pallets it fills, compared with real objects. US dollar and euro note sizes from the issuers, or your own notes. Part of usefulweb.app (https://usefulweb.app/). Part of [Sizewise](https://sizewise.usefulweb.app/) (ownerApp: sizewise). Results are deterministic calculations from the inputs and the listed assumptions; the API returns exactly what the web page shows. ## Use it - Human interface: https://sizewisemoneystack.usefulweb.app/ (interactive tool at https://sizewisemoneystack.usefulweb.app/tool) - JSON API: POST https://sizewisemoneystack.usefulweb.app/api/v1/calculate with a JSON object of inputs (schema: https://sizewisemoneystack.usefulweb.app/api/v1/tool) - OpenAPI: https://sizewisemoneystack.usefulweb.app/openapi.json - MCP (Streamable HTTP): https://sizewisemoneystack.usefulweb.app/mcp - tool `sizewise_money_stack` ## Inputs - amount (text): Amount - For example 10000, 1 million, 2.5 billion or 1e12. - currency (select): Notes - denomination (number): Value of one note - thicknessMm (number): Thickness of one note (euro and own notes) - massG (number): Mass of one note (own notes, optional) - noteLengthMm (number): Note length (own notes) - noteWidthMm (number): Note width (own notes) - loadHeightM (number): Load height on a pallet ## Method - Notes = amount ÷ note value, rounded up. Stack height = notes × thickness; mass = notes × mass per note; flat area = notes × length × width. - US notes: 6.14 × 2.61 in, 0.0043 in thick, about 1 g each. Check: a stack one mile high holds 14.7 million notes, matching the U.S. Currency Education Program’s “more than 14.5 million”. - Pallets: the EUR-pallet’s 1.2 × 0.8 m deck (Wikidata Q1281598) is filled with notes in the best row arrangement, stacked to the chosen load height. ## Limits - Banknotes in circulation are worn and slightly thicker; real bundles add bands and air. The ECB publishes no thickness or mass for euro notes: those values are your assumption.
